May 2017.
In 2017, the physics Nobel Laureate Kip Thorne, gave a heartfelt memorial lecture in honor of Cecile DeWitt-Morette, the founder of the Les Houches School of Physics, in which Kip explained the role Cecile played in his career. In his Nobel lecture Kip mentioned coming to Les Houches in 1963, as a student, and hearing about the detection of gravitational waves for the first time from the physicist, Joe Weber. Kip also mentioned the influence of Cecile's husband, Bryce DeWitt, also a physicist, on his career in his Nobel lecture.
