2021 "Cécile DeWitt-Morette - Ecole de Physique des Houches" Prize
The Ecole de Physique des Houches is pleased to announce that the laureate of the 2021 "Cécile DeWitt-Morette - Les Houches School of Physics" Prize has been awarded to Frédéric Caupin, professor at Claude Bernard University, Lyon (Institut Lumiere Matiere).
He is interested in water under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature, particularly in its metastable state: water remains liquid when it should have turned into steam or ice. His research has revealed new physical anomalies of water (compressibility and viscosity), and finds a new field of application in the study of the past climate of the Earth.
The Academy paid tribute to him at the award ceremony under the dome of the Institut de France on November 23, 2021.
