Topological order describes phases of matter that do not result from the spontaneous breaking of a symmetry. They host excitations with non-trivial exchange statistics such as anyons and fractons. Non-abelian anyons could be used to perform topologically-protected quantum computation. The school will cover many aspects of topological order, including recent experimental developments (fractional quantum Hall edge states and quantum simulators) and progresses in numerical methods such as tensor networks.
