Silke Biermann was awarded the 2026 Cécile DeWitt-Morette Prize by the French Academy of Sciences for her research on strongly correlated materials. Her work combines analytical approaches and numerical methods to understand how electrons interact strongly within these complex systems. By predicting the electronic structure from first principles, her findings open new perspectives for utilizing quantum phenomena.
*Silke Biermann is a professor and theoretical physicist who conducts her research at the Center for Theoretical Physics of the École Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France.
